AntiWar.com reports: “Netanyahu Says He’s ‘Very Much’ Attached to the Vision of ‘Greater Israel.’“
DON WAGNER, [email protected]
Rev. Dr. Don Wagner is a retired member of the Presbyterian clergy, professor and a human rights activist. He is the author of the memoir Glory to God in the Lowest: Journeys to an Unholy Land and other books including Anxious for Armageddon. He is available for interviews beginning this evening.
He said today: “On the one hand, we have Netanyahu with his ‘Greater Israel,’ which is an old Zionist romantic idea of expanding Israel ‘from the Nile to the Euphrates,’ which has a false biblical claim to it and will draw support from Christian Zionist politicians like Speaker of the House Mike Johnson and Mike Huckabee, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, and many in the Trump orbit. Moreover, the extremist Israeli settler movement and Netanyahu’s cabinet members [Bezalel] Smotrich and [Itamar] Ben-Gvir love this vision which rallies the far right around Netanyahu.
“At the same time we are hearing more EU countries, Canada and Australia rallying around recognition of the state of Palestine and the old ‘two state solution,’ which initially sounds good until you realize they refuse to apply international law and Netanyahu opposes a Palestinian state. I fear another Oslo Process that enabled Israel and the U.S. to fool the world with the mirage of a Palestinian state while allowing Israel to triple the illegal settlements and kill the two state concept and lead us into the present apartheid military occupation.”
Wagner was featured last year on the IPA news release “Huckabee: ‘No Such Thing as a Palestinian.’”
