DNC Remains in “a Bubble” Insulated from “Anger and Disgust” – Interviews Available

The executive committee of the Democratic National Committee met for the first time since December last Friday. The only media outlet from outside Arkansas to cover the session was the website Progressive Hub, whose co-editor Sam Rosenthal reported from the meeting in Little Rock. He is available for interviews.

In a piece published by The Guardian today, Norman Solomon noted that – although five months had passed since its last meeting – the powerful committee “took no action.” In the words of the DNC’s bylaws, it is “responsible for the conduct of the affairs of the Democratic Party” between the meetings of the full DNC, which has not met since the start of February and isn’t scheduled to meet again until late August.

A “sense of urgency” was absent from the May 30 meeting, Solomon wrote. The DNC leadership “remains largely within a bubble insulated from the anger and disgust – toward the party – that is widespread among countless Democrats and other Americans. They want the Democratic Party to really put up a fight, while its leaders mainly talk about putting up a fight. The Trump regime is setting basic structures of democracy on fire, while Democratic leaders don’t seem to be doing much more than wielding squirt guns.” Solomon is executive director of the Institute for Public Accuracy and national director of RootsAction.
