The Case for Military Intervention to Stop the Gaza Genocide

The Case for Military Intervention to Stop the Gaza Genocide — Interviews Available President Macron of France on Wednesday called for the deployment of an “international stabilization mission for Gaza.”

The Turkish Anadolu Agency reports: “The Gaza Tribunal on Monday called for an urgent international armed intervention to stop what it described as Israel’s ‘most lethal phase of genocide’ in Gaza, warning that failure to act would mark ‘an historic failure of humanity.’ At a press conference held in Istanbul, the president of the independent tribunal, Richard Falk, professor emeritus of international law at the U.S.’s Princeton University and the former UN special rapporteur on human rights in the Palestinian territories (2008–2014), urged governments to bypass the Security Council and empower the UN General Assembly to authorize armed intervention.”

Falk will be among the panelists at an online event this Saturday organized by the new group Protect Palestine. The other presenters are:

* Prof. Mazin Qumsiyeh, director of Palestine Museum of Natural History, Bethlehem University
* Susan Abulhawa, scientist, author, activist
* Craig Mokhiber, international human rights lawyer, former UN official
* Dr. Maung Zarni, genocide scholar and activist

The panel will be moderated by ⁨Ousman Noor⁩, founder of Protect Palestine. See his video previewing the event

He is available for interviews via [email protected]. Also see: @ousmannoor and @ProtectPal

Noor⁩ has been warning that France and Saudi Arabia “will hijack momentum for a military intervention and instead call for a ‘stabilisation force’ to effectively perpetuate the conditions of occupation and apartheid.” See video

The group stresses: “The Genocide Convention imposes an independent legal obligation on all nations to stop genocide, regardless of UN processes. However:

* “UN General Assembly Resolutions under ‘Uniting for Peace’ can recommend a protective force
* “UN mechanisms can help diplomatically isolate Israel

“Waiting for UN authorization means more Palestinian deaths. States with political will must act now.”

The group also advocates use of Responsibility to Protect. See their page on international law

There are ongoing protests outside the UN for meaningful action to stop the genocide.
