The Department of Forever War

In his substack The Kucinich Report, former Congressman Dennis J. Kucinich writes that there is an upcoming effort in Congress to formally merge the Israeli and U.S. militaries. “Section 219 (formerly Section 224) of the 2027 National Defense Authorization Act of 2027, provides for an unprecedented unification.”

Kucinich writes: “Money can be appropriated one year and withdrawn the next. Institutional integration is permanent.”

Kucinich argues that Section 219 would create “permanent mechanisms through which military planning, intelligence sharing, weapons development, procurement, research, artificial intelligence, and strategic coordination become increasingly intertwined between the United States and Israel.

“It is a proposal to embed another nation’s military establishment within the long-term planning and strategic architecture of the United States government… Section 219 of the NDAA would cause the United States to become dependent upon Israel making decisions about war, peace, military strategy, intelligence, and U.S. national security.”

Kucinich told the Institute for Public Accuracy: “This is an unprecedented effort to formally merge military functions between the U.S. and another country––in this case Israel. The merger is occurring at the highest level and includes the most sophisticated aspects of defense. It’s no secret that Israel and the U.S. closely coordinate, and there is coordination that exists between the U.S. and NATO, but that’s based on a treaty. In this case, the U.S. and Israeli coordination has devolved into something that is inherently unconstitutional––a sacrifice of our sovereignty.

“This is very dangerous. If Israel, under the conditions prior to this legislation, could push the president of the U.S. into attacking Iran, imagine what will happen when they are formally inside the U.S. defense establishment. This is not only about access to decision making over $1.5 trillion in annual military expenditures, but also the ability to influence the U.S. going into even more wars. This [legislation] will result in more wars––no question about it–––for the purpose of Zionism. We could very well end up in war in Turkey and Egypt.

“The best outcome here is that the language gets repealed. The bill is on the floor of the House this afternoon. They start debates at 2 o’clock. We’ll know by the end of the day.”
