U.S. “Ceasefire” a “Ploy to Sabotage the Rule of Law” — Again

Drop Site News reports: “At least 104 Palestinians in Gaza were killed, including 46 children and 20 women, in Israeli attacks on Gaza overnight, according to the Gaza Ministry of Health. At least 253 Palestinians were wounded, including 78 children and 84 women.”

Trump claimed: “Nothing is going to jeopardize” the “ceasefire” and that “If they (Hamas) are good, they are going to be happy and if they are not good, they are going to be terminated — their lives will be terminated.” Vice President JD Vance said the ceasefire “is holding,” characterizing the Israeli attacks that killed dozens of children as “little skirmishes here and there.”

Mokhiber is an international human rights lawyer and activist and a former senior United Nations human rights official. He said: “U.N. Security Council delegations, led by the U.S. as the co-perpetrator of the genocide in Palestine, with the support of complicit countries like the U.K. and France, and with the cooperation of U.S. client states in the region, are conspiring to merge elements of the French-Saudi colonial plan, with the U.S. colonial plan, in order to get a U.N. stamp of approval for the further colonization of Gaza, the subjugation of Palestinian survivors, the buttressing of Israeli impunity, and the normalization of the Israeli regime in the midst of the genocide. It doesn’t have to be this way. Colombia has a proposal for protecting and empowering Palestinian human rights and holding Israel accountable. And in part for this, it is being threatened with U.S. military aggression.”

See IPA news release from last year, when the Biden administration announced that Israel agreed to a ceasefire and got UNSC blessing through a resolution it drafted to derail another resolution by Algeria which would have implemented orders by the International Court of Justice demanding that Israel to stop its invasion of Rafah: “U.S. ‘Ceasefire’ a ‘Ploy to Sabotage the Rule of Law.’

Mokhiber added: “We are indeed seeing another ploy by the U.S. government working in collusion with the secretariat of the U.N. to sabotage the rule of law as well as the work of many in the U.N. system who are trying desperately to uphold the U.N. Charter.” See his recent presentation “Critique of the U.N. System” at the Gaza Tribunal.
