Israel Launches “Operation Eternal Darkness” Against Lebanon

Drop Site News reports in “Massive Israeli Assault on Lebanon Threatens U.S.-Iran Ceasefire” that the “Israeli military bombed a nine-story residential building in Beirut’s Tallet al-Khayyat neighborhood, trapping residents under the rubble. Outside of Beirut, at least ten people were killed during a funeral in the town of Shmustar in eastern Lebanon. Three girls were killed in Adloun, a coastal area in the south. A family of four was killed in the northeastern village of Mansoura. Four people were killed in a strike on the southeastern town of Majadel.”

Update: Drop Site News is now reporting that “Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan has deleted the post in which he announced the Iranian delegation’s plans to travel to Pakistan today for negotiations with the United States.”

Jamal Fayad from Lebanon wrote an in-depth post: “Only the naive were surprised by yesterday’s massacres. As for those who read history, they realize that what is happening is not a product of the moment, but rather a recurring Israeli terrorist behavior that repeats at the ends of wars, specifically in the hours and days preceding a ceasefire.”

Common Dreams reports: “Pakistan Reiterates That Lebanon Is Still Part of Ceasefire Despite Israel’s Attack.”

AntiWar.com reports in “At Least 254 Killed, Over 1,100 Wounded in Massive Israeli Attacks on Lebanon” that “Israel Army rebrands attacks on Lebanon to ‘Operation Eternal Darkness.’”
