  • Why is the National Guard in Syria?

DeCamp is news editor of Antiwar.com and host of “Antiwar News with Dave DeCamp.” He just wrote the piece “Gunman Who Killed Three Americans in Syria Was Member of Syrian Government’s Security Forces,” which notes that President Trump and other U.S. officials “have called the incident an  ‘ISIS attack’ and have left out” the fact “that the perpetrator was a member of the Syrian military, which the U.S. has allied itself with despite HTS’s al-Qaeda past, and as of Sunday, ISIS hasn’t taken credit for the shooting.

  • Autopsy: “How Democrats Lost the White House”

A new report by RootsAction, titled “How Democrats Lost the White House,” conducts an autopsy on the 2024 presidential election, concluding that Vice President Kamala Harris lost while courting “moderate” Republicans rather than speaking to her core bloc: Democratic working-class, young, and progressive voters. The pivotal factor in her loss, the autopsy suggests, was the drop in Democratic voter turnout. Harris received 6.8 million fewer votes than Joe Biden did in 2020. Support among young voters plummeted.

  • Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices met last week to vote on changes to CDC recommendations for the hepatitis B vaccine series for infants. Public Citizen notes that the committee “voted 8 to 3 to recommend replacing the long-standing practice of administering the first dose of the hepatitis B vaccine to all newborns with ‘individual-based decision-making.’”

  • Google/YouTube Accelerating Attack on Free Speech on Palestine

“The scale of content deleted specifically due to U.S. sanctions is also difficult to quantify since such decisions happen without transparency. A recent investigation by The Intercept revealed that YouTube quietly deleted the accounts of three prominent Palestinian human rights organizations due to the Trump administration’s sanctions against the groups for assisting the International Criminal Court’s war crimes case against Israeli officials. The terminated pages accounted for at least 700 videos erased, many of which spotlighted alleged human rights abuses by the Israeli government.”

  • Anti-Genocide Activists Target Huge Military Hub for Israel in New Jersey

“Early morning Friday, dozens of protestors convened at 1A Colony Road in Jersey City to picket G&B Packing, whose warehouse is operated by Interglobal Forwarding Services — a company that works closely with the Israeli Ministry of Defense and U.S. federal contractors to ship military cargo to Israel and supply its genocidal assault on Gaza.“

  • YouTube Deletes Musician’s Entire Catalogue

“It seems abundantly obvious to me that everyone who believes in free expression, whatever side of various political equations they may be on, should be concerned about what YouTube just did to me. If it could happen to me because of my allegedly controversial political viewpoints, it could happen to you because of yours.”

  • Israel Bombing Tent Camp During “Ceasefire”

The Israeli military used bulldozers to bury Palestinians killed while trying to reach food aid near the Zikim crossing in northern Gaza, a new CNN report shows, with some bodies pushed into shallow, unmarked graves and others left exposed to decompose or be scavenged by animals.

  • Honduras Election

Hondurans voted in general elections Sunday and the results are still too close to call. While governing Libre party candidate Rixi Moncada appears to have lost with only around 20 percent or less of the vote, hard-right National Party candidate Nasry Asfura is statistically tied with center-right Liberal Party candidate Salvador Nasralla, with about 84 percent of votes counted.

  • U.S. War Crimes and Plans in Venezuela

“The evidence that the U.S. Navy’s buildup in the Caribbean is not about combating drugs but rather regime change in Venezuela is overwhelming.”

  • University Protests

“During the hearing, you were asked about the political views of specific professors and encouraged to take disciplinary action, including termination, against them. Such clear retaliation for First-Amendment protected speech would be prohibited at a state institution. Although Columbia University is a private institution not governed by the First Amendment, the role of state actors…

  • UAW Launching Union Wave?

“In two prior union elections in Chattanooga, the UAW was unable to move the needle enough to win, losing the first time, 626-712, and on a second try in 2019, 776-833. The U.S. remained the only country in the world where Volkswagen workers were non-union. Things began to change in 2022, when Volkswagen expanded the…

  • Government Compelling Private Universities to “Pledge of Allegiance” to Israel; Universities Disciplined Students for Rallies

“What we are seeing now is only the latest manifestation of a longstanding campaign to try to redefine the term ‘anti-Semitism’ — to take it away from the dictionary meaning that worked very well for a long time, and to turn it into something else. Under the new definition, anti-Semitism includes criticism of Zionism and…

  • “Terrifying” “Make Everyone A Spy” Amendment Provokes Outrage

“As we have said for months, the Make Everyone A Spy provision is recklessly broad and a threat to democracy itself. It is simply stunning that the administration and House Intelligence Committee do not have a single answer for how frighteningly broad this provision is. While the Department of Justice wants us to believe that…

  • NSA, Palantir “Feed Israel’s Killing Machine in Gaza”

“Now, with Israel’s ongoing war in Gaza, critical information from NSA continues to be used by Unit 8200, according to a number of sources, to target tens of thousands of Palestinians for death — often with U.S.-supplied 2,000-pound bombs and other weapons. And it is extremely powerful data-mining software, such as that from Palantir, that…

  • “Iran’s Attack and Prospects for Regional War”

“Yesterday’s attack failed to inflict any serious damage on Israel. This was no accident. Iran expected this result. It warned the U.S. in advance of its plans. Unlike Israel, [the Iranian government] exercised calculated restraint.” The Iranian government told the U.S. government “through back-channels what it intended. It negotiated an understanding with the U.S. about what the…
