As Israel Attempts “Final Solution” in Gaza, It Targets Nonviolent Activist in West Bank

Amro is based in Hebron on the West Bank and is founder of Youth Against Settlements. He is regularly threatened, harrased and detained by the Israeli military and settlers for his nonviolent activity such as making films and attempting to prevent home takeovers.     He recently posted: “Israeli settlers attacked my house with stones, they came at 4 am to throw stones and [set fire to] my family land, chanting about the death of my brother, and wishing that I will die too or [be] killed.” And: “The war on Gaza must end now, no more starvation, Israeli is not defending itself, it is defending its occupation, apartheid and illegal settlements. Even the Israeli government is going on with it for internal politics in Israel.” 

    German public television DW News recently reported about Amro: “‘A Palestinian activist is facing growing harassment from Israeli soldiers and settlers after being featured in a BBC documentary that spotlighted the plight of Palestinians in the occupied West Bank.” 

    Following the killing of two Israeli embassy staffers in Washington, D.C., he posted: “The murder of any human being should not be justified nor celebrated by anyone.” A neighbor of Elias Rodriguez, the alledged shooter stated: “guns and bombs are not going to end this genocide,” see video

    On Thursday, Amro reported: “The lawyer who represented the settler who attacked me a few years ago, came to my house to intimidate me as a soldier.”
