Colombia Election Interference?

Drop Site News reports: “Colombian President Gustavo Petro has alleged that Israel interfered in Colombia’s presidential election, citing alleged irregularities in the country’s vote counting process and calling for a full audit and recount.” Last year, Petro gave a speech about using Uniting for Peace at the UN General Assembly against Israel.

Petro also wrote: “I warned that the software of the Bautista brothers was vulnerable according to the 2018 Council of State ruling and that it should be replaced with public software.”

In the past he represented the United Steel Workers in a case involving corporations such as Occidental Petroleum and their complicity in human rights abuses in Colombia. He has been advising Colombian President Petro.     Kovalik said today: “At the moment, it appears that the right-wing candidate, De la Espriella, is ahead by the narrowest of margins amongst credible claims of election irregularities and clear interference on his behalf by the United States. Should the results hold, I fear that Colombia will return to the days of terror against the population, and specifically against the social movements. This is the result the Trump administration wanted and helped to bring about — not only in Colombia, but also in other Latin American countries.  We are witnessing a new Operation Condor. These are truly dark times.

“There were certainly many instances of vote-buying and voter intimidation by the right as well as people being blocked from voting.  There were also numerous acts of politically-motivated violence, including kidnappings and killings, leading up to the election.”
